Laksmi has been invited to speak at numerous international literary festivals, conferences, and universities around the world, including as keynote speaker at the opening of the 9th European Southeast Asian Studies Association (EuroSEAS) at the University of Oxford in 2017 and for the opening of the annual Open Indonesia Council at the Australian National University in 2019.
